On September 11, 2009 a feature film, Whiteout, starring Gabriel Macht, Kate Beckinsale, Columbus Short, and Alex O’Loughlin, is released by Warner Bros. Pictures in United States. Whiteout is directed by Dominic Sena and produced by Susan Downey and Joel Silver at Dark Castle Entertainment. The film is based on the 1998 comic novel book of the same title by Steve Lieber and Greg Rucka.

U.S. marshall Carrie Stetko (Kate Beckinsale), who was sent to the Antarctica’s South Pole two years ago and now should leave home. But suddenly a dead body is discovered on the ice, and theres not a shadow of doubt that this is a murder.

Carrie should identify a murderer within 3 days, before the sun sets for half a year, or she risks to get trapped in the dark together with the killer.

But she doesn’t realize that she’s suddenly been thrust into a great mystery which was over 60 years in the making, and that the killer is will do anything ready to protect the secret from other’s eyes. Now, as the death toll starts to rise and a massive series of whiteouts blow bitter winds across the frozen landscape, the U.S. marshall who had no desire other than to escape the Antarctica must work night and day to catch a killer before the blinding white snow gives way to the deadly darkness of winter.
