On October 23, 2009 an adaptation of the first 3 Darren Shan’s books of the book series, The Saga of Darren Shan, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant, starring Chris Massoglia, Josh Hutcherson, John C. Reilly, Michael Ceveris, is set to be released in the United States. The Vampire’s Assistant is distributed by Universal Studios. It was filmed inside the construction within the New Orleans City Park, about a thousand feet off of the side of the road, along Harrison Avenue.

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant is fantasy adventure film about a teenager, 16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia), who was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. With his best friend (Josh Hutcherson) they got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when they accidentally stumbled upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. Ultimately he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow of monstrous creatures from a wolfman and a snakeboy to a gigantic barker (Ken Watanabe) and a bearded lady (Salma Hayek).

Unknowingly he broke a 200 years old truce between two battling fractions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
