On November 6, 2009 a film, The Fourth Kind, starring Milla Jovovich, Will Patton, Elias Koteas, is set for release in the United States theatres. The Fourth Kind is directed and written by Olatunde Osunsanmi and produced by Joe Carnahan and Paul Brooks.

The movie deals with alien abductions and is set in Nome, Alaska. The title comes from classification of close encounters with aliens by J. Allen Hynek’s, where the fourth kind means an alien abduction.

The film claims to be based on real events. The main place of action is Nome, Alaska. It’s a town which seems to have had a disproportionate number of reported missing people and alien abductions over the last forty years. These facts are supported by archived footage.

Milla Jovovich plays psychotherapist Dr. Abigail Tyler, who the movie claims to be based on a real psychologist who videotapes interviews with the abductees, and begins to suspect a government cover up.
