On November 6, 2009 a horror film based on the 1970 short Richard Matheson’s story “Button, Button”, The Box, starring Cameron Diaz, James Marsden, Frank Langella, is scheduled for the release in USA. The Box is directed and written by Richard Kelly. The filming began on November 2007 and was finished in February 2008.

1976. Richmond, Virginia. One night, a financially challenged, suburban married couple Norma and Arthur Lewis with a young child (Marsden and Diaz) receive an anonymous gift — a wooden box with a button. On the next day in the morning a mysterious disfigured stranger (Frank Langella), tells them that if they push the button there will be two consequences there.

The first one is that someone in the world — a person they do not know — will die. Second, they will receive one million dollars.

They have only 24 hours decide what to do with the box, Arthur and Norma find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and face the true nature of their humanity.
