On September 25, 2009 a science fiction film, Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, and Rosamund Pike, is scheduled to be released in the US theatres. Surrogates is directed by Jonathan Mostow and based on the 2005–2006 comic book series of the same title.

2017 is the year when people started to live almost total isolation. They do not and have no need to leave the safety and comfort of their own homes, as now they can communicate with others through “surrogates”, remotely-controlled robotic creatures, which are designed to be better-looking models of their human operators.

The world has become a very safe place to live as people are at home all the time, and they don’t suffer from and don’t even feel the damage done to their surrogates. People are free from pain, fear, and crime. Until one day when someone kills the genius college student who invented the surrogates.

FBI agent Greer (Bruce Willis) enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the murder. New murders shake the world. Having a surrogate begins to be dangerous, because real people can be killed whe their surrogates are destroyed. Greer understands that he has to risk his life and go out to the real world to find and catch the killer.
