On August 21, 2009 a family adventure comedy, Shorts, starring William H. Macy, Jon Cryer, James Spader, and Leslie Mann, is released in the United States. Shorts is written and directed by Robert Rodriguez (”Spy Kids”). They also announced a Nintendo DS video game on June 23, 2009, with a release date in advance of the film.

Black Falls is a dull suburb, where every adult person, as well as 11-year-old Toe Thompson’s parents works for an extremely profitable company Black Box Unlimited Worldwide Industries Incorporated (they’ve developed an all-in-one communication device). A young boy who lives in that boring suburb suddenly gets hit on his head with a rock colored in every color of the rainbow. That rock fulfils every wish of anyone who holds it.

Toe doesn’t like the concept of the corporate conglomerate at all. He just wants to make new friends, and fortunately for him the stone can make his dream a reality, as it has the power to grant wishes. But when the rock starts changing hands, something strange begins to happen.

Black Falls is suddenly overrun by crocodile armies, miniature spaceships, boogers the size of boulders, etc., and the rock doesn’t stop to fulfill every dream the local kids have. But what would happen when this mysterious rock will get into hands of adults? So, Toe and his friends have to save their town from themselves by proving to them that the things you wish for may not actually be the best things for you.
