On October 16, 2009 a drama/thriller film, Law Abiding Citizen, starring Jamie Foxx, Gerard Butler, Colm Meaney, Leslie Bibb, Viola Davis, is released in the US theatres. Law Abiding Citizen was directed by F. Gary Gray, written by Kurt Wimmer, and produced by Gerard Butler, Mark Gill, Kurt Wimmer, Alan Siegel, and Lucas Foster.

Filming took place in and around Philadelphia. Filming locations included the old Broadmeadows prison, Philadelphia’s City Hall, and Gabriel’s house (the Suburbs of Philadelphia).

Law Abiding Citizen tells the story of Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler), a man who decides to exact revenge on those who killed his family, as well as the criminal justice system which did not punish the killers.

After a home invasion, Clyde Shelton is told that one of the criminals who killed his daughter and wife would be released because he cooperated with the district attorney’s office and the other criminal would be put on death row. Shelton is not satisfied with that decision and he seeks revenge. The criminals are not his only goal, he aims for the entire justice system.

Clyde is quickly captured, but Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a heroic yet corrupt D.A. who released one of the murderers, soon realizes that prison isn’t enough to keep Shelton from killing people who helped the criminals to escape the sentence they deserved.
