On August 21, 2009 a war film, Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, etc., is released in USA by Universal Studios and The Weinstein Company. Inglourious Basterds is directed and written by Quentin Tarantino.

Filming was done in several locations, including Germany and France and began in October 2008. The main location of the movie’s plot is France occupied by Nazi during the World War II. The title of the film was inspired by the 1978 movie Inglorious Bastards by Italian director Enzo Castellari’s, but Tarantino’s movie is not a remake and never supposed to be.

Inglourious Basterds was accepted to the main selection of movies at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival and had its world premiere in May. It was the only US movie to win a Cannes award that year (it was a Best Actor award for Christoph Waltz).

The plot is the following:

During the very first year of the Nazi occupation of France, Shosanna Dreyfus (Melanie Laurent) becomes a witness of how her family was executed by Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna manages to escape to Paris where she gets a new identity and becomes an operator and an owner of a cinema.

Meanwhile somewhere on Europe lands, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) gathers a crew of Jewish American soldiers to brutally fight against Nazis. The group was named “the basterds”. Later Raine’s troop combines their efforts with a German actress and an agent Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) to find and eliminate leaders of the Third Reich.
