On August 14, 2009 a music-driven romantic comedy, Bandslam, starring Vanessa Hudgens (”High School Musical 1, 2, 3″), Aly Michalka (pop duo Aly and AJ, “Phil of the Future”), Lisa Kudrow (”Friends”), Scott Porter (”Speed Racer”), and Gaelan Connell (”Chocolat”) is released in USA. The film is produced by Summit Entertainment and Walden Media. Filming started in Austin, Texas, on February 2, 2008 and ended April 2, 2008. Additional scenes were filmed in New York City.

The story starts when a talented songwriter, singer and former cheerleader Charlotte Banks (Aly Michalka) asks Will Burton (Gaelan Connell), a bullied or completely ignored by his schoolmates loser, to manage and participate in her rock band. At that moment she thinks about only one thing: to put his egotistical ex-boyfriend (musician as well), Ben (Scott Porter) into dust, at a battle of bands, the biggest event of the year in the rock world. Will agrees, as it’s the only way for him to get away of his “loser” status.

And together they succeed to develop unique songs and sounds and ultimately be a success in the contest. Meanwhile, Will and Sa5m (Vanessa Hudgens) fall in love with each other. But not everything goes smooth. When bad things arise, the band has to make a desicion: to admit defeat or face the music and defend for what they believe in.
